New DNA sampling

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to realize some new DNA sampling. 5 giraffes were sampled. Thanks’ to the experience of the first try, the 5 shoots were very good: good place (back leg muscle), and good pressure of the gun allowing a quick fall of the dart. The darts never stayed in the giraffe more than some seconds

We could note 2 ways for the giraffes to help the drop off of the dart:

With the tail...

With the mouth...

Kimba, my fantastic, guide helped to collect the DNA sampled

With the arrival of new darts offered by Julian Fennessy, we will be able to collect soon much more giraffe DNA !
